A Day in the Life

At Medtronic's Pyramid site in Memphis, TN, we are seeking a dedicated Quality Engineer II to join our team. In this role, you will be instrumental in developing and maintaining quality standards for our medical products. You will work closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure that our products meet stringent quality standards. Your responsibilities will include designing inspection methods, conducting quality assurance tests, and performing statistical analyses to uphold product reliability and compliance. Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Develops, modifies, applies and maintains quality standards and protocol for processing materials into partially finished or finished materials product.

  • Collaborates with engineering and manufacturing functions to ensure quality standards are in place.

  • Devises and implements methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment.

  • Designs or specifies inspection and testing mechanisms and equipment; conducts quality assurance tests; and performs statistical analysis to assess the cost of and determine the responsibility for products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications.

  • Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards and that documentation is compliant with requirements.

  • May specialize in the areas of design, incoming material, production control, product evaluation and reliability, inventory control and/or research and development as they apply to product or process quality.

  • Investigates field returns for failure analysis, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with 0 years of experience

Nice to haves

  • Experience writing or contributing to CAPA reports

  • Comfortable presenting findings to cross-functional teams (e.g., R&D, Regulatory, Manufacturing)

  • Ability to draft or review work instructions and lab procedures

  • Hands-on use of measurement tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, optical comparators)

  • Knowledge of sterilization processes and how they may impact product returns

  • Familiarity with design control and risk management under ISO 13485 and 21 CFR 820

  • Proficiency in Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$76,800.00 - $115,200.00 This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance , Health Savings Account , Healthcare Flexible Spending Account , Life insurance, Long-term disability leave , Dependent daycare spending account , Tuition assistance/reimbursement , and Simple Steps (global well-being program).
